TNS could face Belgian Giants
Principality Welsh Premier League Champions The New Saints will face Belgian Champions Anderlecht if they can overcome their 1-0 deficit against Bohemians on Tuesday evening. Mike Davies' side would play their home leg first should they claim a famous result on Tuesday at Park Hall.
The Belgians, based in the Brussels Capital Region are the most successful Belgian football team in European competition (with 5 trophies) as well as in the Belgian First Division (30 championship wins). They play their home matches at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium located within the Parc Astrid in the municipality of Anderlecht . The stadium was completely rebuilt in 1983 and it was renamed in honour of the then chairman Constant Vanden Stock. The capacity for UEFA matches is 21,619, but they are due to build a third ring on top of the stadium, so the capacity will rise up to 30,000 by the year 2012.
The club are managed by former Belgian international Ariel Jacobs and their captain is the 19-times capped Belgian International defender Olivier Deschacht. 50-times capped Czech international Jan Polak is another high-profile player at the club.
