Steelmen knocked out of Europe by Classy Finns
Port Talbot 0-4 TPS Turku
Port Talbot Town have lost 4-0 at the GenQuip Stadium and 7-1 on aggregate against a talented Turku side from Finland in their maiden Europa League adventure.
Trailing 3-1 after the first leg, the hosts needed an early goal and Nicky Palmer had the first chance of the match but his header drifted wide after good work from Lee John on the Port Talbot right.
On 25 minutes though, Turku took the lead as Babatunde Wusu curled a 20 yard effort from the left over Lee Kendall's head into the top right corner. It was disappointing for the hosts as they were on the break, but Lee John lost possession and after a strong run from Riku Riski, Wusu took his chance sublimely.
It was 2-0 on the half-hour as midfielder Toni Kolehmainen struck another beauty from the edge of the box after the Steelmen failed to clear their lines at a corner.
It became 3-0 in the 66th minute as Riku Riski capitalised from poor Port Talbot defending to beat Kendall from just outside the six-yard box. The Steelmen hit the bar shortly after when Martin Rose's header beat Henrik Moisander but the woodwork denied the striker.
Substitute Roope Riski then scored in stoppage time having beat the offisde trap to round Kendall to cap off a fine night for the Riski brothers and the Finnish side, which eliminates the valiant Steelmen.
