Saints Held by spirited Druids

Druids' keeper Chris Mullock saved a penalty from Chris SharpThe New Saints were held to a 0-0 draw at Plaskynaston on Friday evening, which dents their title ambitions.

On paper, despite being the away team, it should have been a comfortable three points for Andy Cale's league leaders against the bottom-club.

Cale left winger Craig Jones and Scott Ruscoe out of his starting line-up and was dealt a blow when Steve Evans left the field after just 27 minutes through injury. The best chance of the evening fell to Chris Sharp who had the opportunity of a penalty, but his strike was well saved by Chris Mullock, who again denied the striker from open play shortly afterwards.

Aberystwyth Town were also held on the road but were grateful to Luke Bowen for his 85th minute equaliser in front of over 400 at Bala Town. After Aber's Bari Morgan had a goal ruled out for offside, February's Principality Welsh Premier League Player of the Month Ricky Evans scored the opener on 68 minutes with his head for the hosts, before ex-Port Talbot striker Bowen restored parity late on.

Airbus won the Flintshire derby thanks to a Jack Abraham winner on 69 minutes at GAP Connah's Quay. The three points was vital for Airbus' hopes of maintaining Welsh Premier League status, but the Nomads will be really disappointed after a very good three points in midweek against Neath.
