FAW Announces Welsh Cup Semi-Final Schedule
The Football Association of Wales has confirmed the schedule for the Welsh Cup Semi Finals.
The Bangor City versus Prestatyn Town match will be broadcast live on S4/C's Sgorio programme on Sunday 11th April 2010, with a 1:15pm kick-off. The FAW, in consultation with the Broadcaster and the two clubs concerned has decided that the venue will be Latham Park, Newtown. The Mid-Wales venue has vast experience of hosting live matches and the facilities on offer at the stadium certainly complement the importance of the tie.
Neville Powell said that he was pleased that he match would be played at Newtown and added; "It's a good football stadium with one of the best football pitches in the League. We at Bangor, all have fond memories at Latham Park so we're relishing the day already."
The match between the Champions and Prestatyn Town is sure to be keenly contested after the clubs played out a 1-1 draw in the Principality Welsh Premier League last Friday.
The match referee, appointed by the FAW is the experienced Ceri Richards from Llanelli who has been on the FIFA list since 1994.
The first Semi-Final, which will be contested between Port Talbot Town and Bala Town will be played the previous day, Saturday 10th April at Park Avenue, Aberystwyth with a 2:30pm kick-off.
Port Talbot Town manager Mark Jones said this afternoon; "We're delighted to be playing in the Semi-Final and all our fans enjoy going to Aber and we're expecting between 300 and 400 travelling for the match. The facilities and the pitch are excellent at Park Avenue so we're already looking forward to it."
The 123rd final of the oldest football competition in Wales will be played at Llanelli's Parc Y Scarlets Stadium on Sunday 2nd May, which will also be broadcast live on S4/C's Sgorio.
In advance of the Semi-Finals the FAW's Official Trophy Tour will continue and provide the children of Newtown with the opportunity of having their photograph's taken with the famous Trophy.
