The Welsh Cup Trophy comes back to Bangor

The Welsh Cup Trophy Tour arrives in Bangor this week

The Football Association of Wales is bringing Cup Fever to Gwynedd tomorrow and inviting youngsters to create their own special piece of Welsh Cup history by participating at the official Welsh Cup Trophy Tour.

The famous trophy will be visiting two local schools on Thursday to give young fans the chance to sample the history, heritage and magic of Wales' most famous domestic cup competition. It will be brought to Ysgol Y Garnedd in Penrhosgarnedd, Bangor during the morning and then taken to Ysgol Cae Top in the afternoon.

The Welsh Cup Trophy Tour will be visiting the region as part of the build-up towards this weekend's eagerly anticipated Quarter-Finals, one of which will see current holders Bangor City host Principality Welsh Premier League leaders Llanelli, in a repeat of the 2008 final. The match will be broadcast live on S4/C at 5:15pm on Saturday and promises to be another classic Welsh Cup encounter.

There will be football activities for the school pupils to partake in with the Bangor City Academy with ticket giveaways for Saturday evening's big match. Bangor City stars Les Davies and Sion Edwards will also be available for photograph and autograph opportunities, but the highlight for all participants will certainly be to have their photograph taken with the famous trophy and as a special memento from the day, the children will get to keep these. There is also a unique opportunity for the pupils to have their photo taken in a backdrop of last year's Welsh Cup Winning side, with their face as the celebrating captain, instead of Marc Limbert.

The location of this year's final, which will be played at Llanelli's excellent Parc y Scarlets stadium on Sunday 2nd May 2010, holds a special place in Bangor fans hearts, as the Citizens won the Cup against Aberystwyth Town there last season.

To make this season's Welsh Cup Final even more memorable for the fans, the FAW is giving everybody the chance to win the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to escort the famous trophy onto the hallowed turf at this year's Final.
