McCreesh to miss Welsh Cup Quarter-Final

Port Talbot Town's influential midfielder Liam McCreesh will miss next week's Welsh Cup Quarter-Final match against TNS after a needless red card on Saturday in his side's 3-0 win over Technogroup Welshpool.

McCreesh received a yellow card from referee Huw Jones with 86 minutes played for a clumsy challenge. His frustration was obvious as defender Lee Surman restrained him following the challenge. Less than a minute later, Jones spotted an off-the-ball incident and McCreesh was shown a straight red card by the FIFA official.

The diminutive playmaker has scored 11 goals from 25 (+1) games for the Steelmen this season and opened the scoring in the previous round against Aberystwyth. He will certainly be a loss at Park Hall, especially as fellow-midfielder Gareth Phillips is also suspended.
