Caton scoops the Manager of the Month

Principality Welsh Premier League Manager of the Month for January - Colin Caton of Bala Town

The Principality Welsh Premier League Manager of the Month for January is Bala Town's Colin Caton, who scoops the award for the first time in his short top-flight career. The Bala boss is enjoying life in the top-flight after he guided the Lakesiders to the Cymru Alliance title last season. Although there weren't many games played in the month due to the adverse weather, Caton still recorded a 100% winning record with successive league triumphs away from home and a Welsh Cup Round 4 win at Maes Tegid. It is the latter which is most impressive, given the fact that he has guided Bala into the Welsh Cup Quarter Finals for the first time in their 120 year history. A brace from Ricky Evans saw the Caton's men progress at the expense of fellow Welsh Premier outfit Caersws.

In the Principality Welsh Premier, Caton guided the club to wins over Porthmadog at Y Traeth (2-0), with goals from Warren Duckett and Ricky Evans and then a first win of the month against Caersws at the Rec by 3-1.

"We are delighted that Colin has been awarded Manager of the Month as he continues to demonstrate his expertise at the helm;" said a Principality Building Society representative.

"With the recent new signings we have high hopes for the team and look forward to watching them storm ahead towards the top of the table. Nurturing latent talent is at the very essence of the Premier League and is the reason why Principality is committed to supporting grass roots sport."

Principality Welsh Premier League Player of the Month for January - Luke Sherbon of Aberystwyth Town

Playmaking midfielder Luke Sherbon of Aberystwyth Town is the Principality Welsh Premier League Player of the Month for January. The Wales Semi Professional International, rejoined the Seasiders from Rhyl at the start of the season, after gaining a Championship winners medal with the Lilywhites during his brief spell away from Park Avenue. He has returned to his spiritual home at the seaside and has been his usual influential self for Alan Morgan's outfit. During the club's four League games in the month, Sherbon scooped the Man of the Match award three times, which emphasizes his importance in the squad.

Phil Richards, Manager of Principality Building Society in Aberystwyth said: "Our warmest congratulations to Luke Sherbon. This is the second time he has won the Principality Player of the month award in the last three seasons. His performance has been outstanding and he is a well-deserved winner.

"The standard of play is continually improving at Aberystwyth and it is a joy to watch the team in action. Luke scored a superb goal against Neath towards the end of January and we are confident that he will score again and again this season."
