Bangor win North Wales Coast derby at Farrar Road
Bangor City defeated arch North Wales Coast rivals Rhyl 3-1 in front of almost nine hundred spectators at Farrar Road today.
In a rare Sunday afternoon match at the famous old ground, Neville Powell's side shocked the The Lilywhites with two goals in as many minutes just before the break.

Ex-Rhyl midfielder Craig Garside got the first with 38 minutes on the clock and another former Lilywhite Jamie Reed added the second just sixty seconds later. It looked all over for Greg Strong's outfit when Sion Edwards netted a third on 65 minutes, but Matty Williams gave the visitors hope of a late rally when he converted an 82nd minute spot kick.
Rhyl's misery was complete when Phil Doran was red carded by FIFA Referee, Ceri Richards just before the final whistle. The visitors handed debuts to Phil Ojapah and Andy Owens at the back, who replaced Greg Stones and former skipper George Horan. Bangor's starting eleven include five former Rhyl players, including Lee Hunt who switched between the clubs last week.
This result leaves Rhyl looking really vulnerable, with the chasing pack seeming to be in pole position to deny them a top three finish and a coveted European slot. The reigning League Champions stay third but are now just two points clear of Port Talbot in fourth, who have the added advantage of three games in hand.
