Keeper Matty heads out of Towns

Prestatyn Town goalkeeper Matty Towns has been released from his contract with the club by mutual consent.

The 6'1 stopper had joined the Seasiders in July 2009 but only made six starts for the first team, four in the WPL and two in the League Cup. It is understood Matty - formerly with Macclesfield Town - has been in talks with Unibond League outfit Woodley Sports but has yet to confirm a deal.

Everyone at Prestatyn Town wishes him all the best in his quest for a new club and thanks him for his efforts during his six-month spell at Bastion Gardens

A clubs statement read; "Everyone at Prestatyn Town wishes him all the best in his quest for a new club and thanks him for his efforts during his six-month spell at Bastion Gardens."

Towns made his debut for the Seasiders on the opening Friday of the 2009/10 season at Park Hall against TNS but wouldn't have enjoyed the experience with his side losing 5-0 to the current League leaders.

Meanwhile an approach to sign influential Newtown midfielder Ross Stephens has come to nothing after the player rejected the club's seven day notice of approach and elected to stay at Latham Park despite Robins' boss Darren Ryan claiming that "financially, it would have been a good move for him."
