Wanted Man Doran joins the Robins
Peter Doran has turned down the chance to remain in the Principality Welsh Premier League to join Altrincham in the Blue Square Premier.
The midfielder who had been linked with moves to Rhyl and Port Talbot in this window, has left Welshpool after 19 games and one goal to try his luck at Moss Lane, with former TNS boss Ken McKenna, who is the assistant at the Conference club. They are currently eleventh in the Blue Square Premier and former Welsh Premier League duo Rob Williams (former TNS, Newtown, Caersws) and Richard Acton (former TNS/Bangor) are on their books also.
Doran - whose twin brother plays for Rhyl - joined Welshpool from Burscough in August 2009, although he spent the majority of last season with GAP Connah's Quay. He spent just under a year on Deeside, having arrived in August 2008 from Caernarfon Town. He was only at the Oval for seven days in his second spell, but after he played against Caersws in the opening game of the 2008/09 season, he was told by boss Dave Rowe he could leave the club.
Previously, he re-joined his twin brother Phil for a second spell at Caernarfon Town in August 2008, having initially left the club at the end of the 2007/08 campaign to join Vauxhall Motors. He has also played for Walsall, Leigh RMI and Worcester City.
