Killackey leaves Citizens for UniBond League
Kieran Killackey has left Bangor City today to join Ashton United of the UniBond League.
The 24 year old all-action midfielder, who was formerly with Accrington Stanley, has been restricted with his opportunities due to injuries this season and has played just 4 (+2) times. The arrival of Nicky Ward from Newtown in the January transfer window has also dropped the Rochdale-born man down the pecking order at Farrar Road, as Ward has impressed in the middle in his two games to date. Dave Morley, Marc Limbert, Craig Garside and another new arrival Matthew Hurdman, are also options for Citizens' boss Nev Powell.
Killackey progressed to the first team at Accrington Stanley, through the youths and reserves and he then turned out for Altrincham before joining Bangor City in January 2006 as one of former manager, Clayton Blackmore's first signings. He remained at the club when Nev Powell took over as boss at Farrar Road but he suffered from an injury early on in Powell's spell and that has continued to date.
Killackey started in the Welsh Cup Final last year in the 2-0 win over Aberystwyth, but he missed the subsequent Europa League campaign, due to injury.
