Loosemores League Cup Groups Drawn

The draw for the Loosemores League Cup for 2009/2010 has been held and Champions The New Saints face a difficult task with Welsh Cup Holders Bangor City joining Andy Cale's side in Group Six, along with Darren Ryan's Newtown.

Bala Town will have hopes of progressing through their group in their inaugural campaign as they face Elements Cefn Druids and Technogroup Welshpool in Group 5.

In Group 4, Principality Welsh Premier League Champions Rhyl and local rivals Prestatyn Town will be pleased to face each other, in front of large midweek crowds and they will be joined by Airbus UK Broughton.

In the final Mid/North Wales Group, previous winners Caersws FC, Gap Connah's Quay and CPD Porthmadog will all fancy their chances of progressing from what is likely to be quite an open Group.

The 2007/08 Champions Llanelli have been drawn in Group 2 alongside Aberystwyth Town and Haverfordwest County, which leaves Carmarthen Town, Neath FC and Port Talbot Town in Group 1.

As in previous years, the six Group Winners and the best two Runners-Up will qualify for the Quarter Finals in what will be the final year of the competition under this format, with the reduction of the League to twelve clubs for 2010/11. The fixtures for the Loosemores Cup will be revealed tomorrow.
