Principality Building Society to back League for a further year

At the Welsh Premier League Annual Presentation Dinner held in Llandrindod Wells on Saturday evening, The Principality Building Society Corporate Communications Manager, Jaime Falarczyk announced that the Society would extend its current agreement as the Competition's Main Sponsor for a further year.

Jaime thanked the League administration and clubs for their support over the past three seasons, saying that they looked forward to working with them for the mutual benefit of all parties in Season 2009/2010.

In welcoming the announcement Welsh Premier League Secretary, John Deakin said,

"I am absolutely delighted that The Principality Building Society has agreed to extend its sponsorship of our League. I have always considered them to be the ideal partner for our League and their staff in both the Head Office and branches throughout Wales have been a pleasure to work with over the past three seasons. I look forward to further developing this partnership over the next twelve months."

The Principality Building Society made a number of presentations at Saturday evening's Dinner including; the Manager of the Season to Alan Bickerstaff of Rhyl FC, Player of the Season to Gareth Owen of Rhyl FC and the Young Player of the Season to Haverfordwest goalkeeper, Lee Idzi. In a special award introduced by the Principality Building Society at the start of their sponsorship, David Figg (Statto) of The New Saints became the Leagues third "Unsung Hero".

At the Annual General Meeting on Saturday afternoon the clubs unanimously backed the proposal to reduce the League to 12 clubs for Season 2010/2011. The membership of the League in that season will be dependent on clubs having a valid FAW Domestic Club Licence and the League will comprise of the highest placed 10 Welsh Premier clubs who meet that criteria at the end of next season, together with a promoted club from each of the Cymru Alliance and Welsh Football League providing they meet the Licensing standards. In the event of only one club qualifying for promotion, the 11 highest placed Welsh Premier League clubs with a Licence will be included and if no club qualifies the 11th and 12th highest placed Licensed WPL clubs will make up the membership of the Competition for Season 2010/2011. Following this the League will relegate one more club than is promoted each season until the FAW's desired membership of 10 clubs is achieved.

All three existing club representatives on the Board Of Directors, Tony Bates of Aberystwyth Town, Andrew Edwards of Port Talbot and Phil Jones of Porthmadog were re-elected to serve in Season 2009/2010
