O'Shaughnessy leaves Nomads and Hackett returns

Steve O'Shaughnessy has left the NomadsGAP Connah's Quay have parted company with Manager Steve O'Shaughnessy and their previous boss Jim Hackett has returned to the club.

In a statement on the club's website, Chairman John Gray thanked Steve for his achievements in taking Nomads to the North Wales Coast FA Cup final and a 9th place finish in the League. He said that following the re-structuring that has taken place at Nomads recently, the Club needs a full time Manager in place, who he can work with very closely on a daily basis. Gray added that O'Shaughnessy's employment commitments elsewhere makes this unviable.

"With the full backing of the new Nomads Committee, Gray has appointed former Manager Jim Hackett as Manager."

"Jim, being a local man with an excellent football CV who already knows the Nomads club well, will work with the Club on a daily basis from the Academy upwards."

The statement adds, "Jim Hackett's re-appointment will be popular with the majority of Nomads supporters, who were shocked and outraged by his treatment at the end of his previous tenure as Manager.

"Having kept us in the Welsh Premier League against all the odds after Neville Powell's departure, Jim rebuilt the footballing side of the club from the Academy upwards and by the end of the season, all the Nomads teams were playing an attractive brand of passing football."

"John Gray says a new ethos of hard work, commitment and unity has quickly developed within the club. To face the challenge of major Welsh Premier League restructuring in a deteriorating economic climate, the appointment of Jim Hackett as Manager will ensure that Nomads are best placed to meet those challenges."
