Old Gold sign Quintet

Carmarthen Town have signed former Merthyr Tydfil quartet Jamie Rewbury, Sam O’Sullivan, Steve Williams and Mike Jones as well as left-back Criag Hanford who joins after a season with Haverfordwest County.

Old Gold coach Mark Aizlewood told the club's website 'Y Dre ar Y We'

"We have some very good players at the football club and as a squad we finished in fourth. It's certainly the best achievement since I have been at the club. That's why we had no intention to release anybody. We have to keep developing and going forward but we have to do that without a massive benefactor."

"To progress we need to pick up an extra six, seven or eight point. So what we have tried to do is bring in a different kind of player that will give us different options at different times and hopefully secure the points we need."

Rewbury is a former Swansea City scholar who has been capped at schoolboy and Under 17 level and had a season at Llanelli AFC before returning to Merthyr in 2005/06. He was selected by Tony Pennock for the Wales Under 23 Semi Professional team and was capped against Italy and England in the 2007/08 season. O'Sullivan is a former Newport County winger who, having made his Exiles debut at the age of 16, made 152 appearances for County before switching to the Martyrs in 2008.

Williams was released by Cardiff City in 2003 and joined Newport County. He made regular outings for the Exiles, but the defender returned to his hometown Merthyr in the summer of 2004. Mike Jones progressed through the Martyrs Youth system and at over six foot plus can prove a handful.

Hanford, who hails from Neath, made his League debut at Port Talbot Town before moving to the Bridge Meadow Stadium in the 2008 close season. He was a late call-up to the Wales Under 23 squad in November and was capped against Finland at Stebonheath.
