Bungle makes surprise switch to Tyneside Amateur League

Former Connah's Quay Nomads captain, Chris Williams has made a surprise move to Kicks FC WallsendFormer Connah's Quay Nomads captain, Chris Williams has made a surprise move to Kicks FC Wallsend, who play in the Tyneside Amateur League Division One.

The Club are the product of the Kicks Leisure group and the 2007/08 season was their inaugural year, with the club recruiting players from their Leisure Clubs. They lost three of their first five games last year, but went on a tremendous run to be crowned Champions, losing just twice more and thus earning promotion.

Williams left the Nomads at the end of last season and announced that he would be taking up a four-year Football Scholarship at Holy Names University, in Oakland, California. He was due to leave in August, but his arrival on Tyneside casts a shadow on that move.

Chris, who is well-known as Bungle, said to the Nomads website at the time of announcing his move to the USA.

"I have always wanted to do something like this since I was a kid, it's my dream come true and an offer too good to refuse."

He added that it more than made up for any disappointment he felt earlier in the season, when a bad run of injuries ruled him out of trials with both Millwall and Tranmere Rovers.
