Saints sign young Dragon Darlington
The New Saints have strengthened their attacking options with the arrival of former Wrexham striker Alex Darlington.
The former Wales Under 19 forward, was one of many players released by Dragons Manager Brian Little following the club's relegation to the Blue Square Conference at the end of last season. He is eligible to be added to the squad for the forthcoming UEFA Cup Qualifying Round, so he should make his debut against Lithuanian side, Suduva.
Alex has really impressed us - he is a skilful player with an eye for goal and we are sure he will be a great asset for the club next season
The fast, but slight forward came through the youth ranks at the Racecourse but cruelly suffered two broken legs within twelve months when he was a first-year professional at the club. He firstly suffered the injury in a Reserve game at Chester in January 2007 and suffered the same in training, whilst on the path to recovery. Despite battling his way back to fitness, he was released by Brian Little when the club were relegated to the Conference in May 2008.
Darlington has been training with TNS since the beginning of June and Assistant Manager Mike Davies told the Club's Website today,
"Alex has really impressed us - he is a skilful player with an eye for goal and we are sure he will be a great asset for the club next season."
