Thirteen fans held before Rhyl's Intertoto Clash

Thirteen fans were arrested at the weekend before Rhyl's Intertoto Cup match with Irish side Bohemians, but all of the incidents occurred outside of the Stadium. The atmosphere inside the Ground was excellent throughout and Rhyl should be commended for the excellent running of the game.

Crowd segregation was in place at Belle Vue, and Bohs fans entered at a separate turnstile to their hosts. They were then ushered either into the Botanical Gardens stand, which is behind the goal and under the Executive Boxes, or in the George James Stand, directly opposite the Changing Rooms.

The Stewarding at the game was excellent and everything ran very smoothly under the experienced control of Stadium Operations Director, Dave Simmons.

North Wales Police have conformed that the thirteen men were held on public order offences, following a fight in the town centre before kick-off. Chief Inspector Rob Kirman said the men arrested were Irish fans who had come over without tickets and North Walians from outside Rhyl and the football club.

Chief Inspector Kirman told the Western Mail, "The majority of Bohemians fans at the game were very well behaved. The ones that we have arrested came without tickets."
