Word Cup Draw and Wildcards Announced

Barry Town Utd, Denbigh Town, Llanidloes Town and Merthyr Town announced as The Word Cup wildcards

At their AGM this afternoon in Swansea, the Welsh Premier League Panel announced that Barry Town Utd, Denbigh Town, Llanidloes Town and Merthyr Town had been awarded as the four Word Cup wildcards for the 2014/15 season.

The new initiative, which takes the competition up to 28 entries, has been well received by fans and clubs and the Panel were pleased with the number of wildcard entries received.

The draw was made at the end of the AGM by the League's Chairman Peter Rees and the President of the FAW Trefor Lloyd Hughes. Interestingly, two of the wildcards have been paired together with Barry Town Utd drawn to host Merthyr Town at Jenner Park.

Denbigh Town will host the League's new boys Cefn Druids, whilst Llanidloes Town will travel to Penybont. There are only two all-Welsh Premier League clashes with Bangor due to host Newtown and Connahs's Quay drawn at home to Rhyl FC.

The four semi-finalists from last season who are Carmarthen Town, Cambrian & Clydach, Bala Town and Airbus have a bye into Round 2.
