Hughes delighted as four agree to re-sign

NEWTOWN have this afternoon announced they have secured the services of four players for next season.

Chris Hughes confirmed that Kieran Mills-Evans, Matt Hearsey, Shane Sutton and Craig Williams have all signed on ahead of the 2014/2015 season.

Just two days after the Robins season ended at Bangor City, Hughes expressed his delight at retaining the players services.

He said: "I am very pleased that the four players have agreed to stay on for next season.

"I want to retain the squad we have had this season, and it is important to keep the players together.

"I am hoping to add players to this over the summer to keep this going, and work towards another good season.

"It is good for the supporters as well, and they will be delighted we have secured the players services.

"Also I would like to thank the board of directors for their help in allowing these deals to take place."

Hearsey will be re-signing for his second full season after moving to the Robins in January 2013 from Dudley Sports. The wide man has received a wide range of plaudits this season for his performances, with his highlights being goals against Connah's Quay and Rhyl.

Williams, who is Newtown's longest serving player with 246 appearances under his belt has put pen to paper for a ninth season at Latham Park.

He came through the youth ranks and cemented a place in the first team before moving to Aberystwyth Town, before moving back to Newtown in July 2012.

Sutton has 162 appearances to his name for the Robins and will be completing his 9th season at Latham Park, with his central defensive partner Mills-Evans re-signing for his fourth campaign.

The former Shrewsbury Town youth product has showed his versatility in his time with the Robins playing at both full back and centre back.

Hughes has praised the role played by both Sutton and Mills-Evans who have played a considerable amount of games alongside each other.
