WPL Match Previews (08/02/2014)

As the WPL moves into the second half of the season there is one match to finalise in Phase One and three others taking place in Phase Two this weekend.

Phase One Fixture:

Airbus UK Broughton vs. Gap Connah’s Quay (14:30 KO)

Both teams square up for this match for the fourth time of asking after the adverse weather conditions have postponed the last two schedule dates for this fixture.

Airbus UK Broughton and Gap Connah's Quay already know their fate despite any result from this match. The Wingmakers have already secured Top 6 second phase football with an outstanding season to date and have push The New Saints at the top of the table. At the other end of the table The Nomads will be looking to change their fortune going into the second phase after a dismal run of form during the majority of the first half of the season.

Airbus UK drew their last match away to The New Saints 1-1 on the 18th January with an equalising goal from Chris Budrys. The last time the wingmakers lost was 9 matches ago at home to Bangor City 1-0.

Gap have only picked up one point in their last 6 matches with their latest match resulting in a 3-1 defeat to Carmarthen Town. In the reverse fixture this season on Boxing Day Airbus beat Gap 2-1 thanks to a James Owen added time winner.
