Welsh Assistant Ref to attend UEFA Course in Lisbon

Welsh Premier and FIFA Assistant Referee Phil Thomas from Trealaw in the Rhondda has just received some very good news in that he has been selected by UEFA to attend a workshop in Lisbon for International Assistant Referees in March.

It will be a comprehensive three days including fitness checking, practical and theoretical sessions.

Referees’ Manager Rodger Gifford commented; “A fantastic opportunity for Phil, I suspect that his outstanding performance at Wembley last May where he was Assistant Referee for England v Republic of Ireland in front of 80,000+ which included some very influential people from the refereeing world will have had a bearing on his selection.

"I’m delighted that Phil’s dedication to lining and the way he conducts himself both on and off the field has been recognised by UEFA in this way."
