The Welsh Premier's Lauren Price in action for Wales
Wales women’s manager Jarmo Matikainen has announced his team to face England on Saturday 26th October in a 2015 World Cup Qualifier, in which he has included young Welsh prodigy Lauren Price.
Lauren is currently playing her club football in the Welsh Premier Women’s League for PILCS Ladies FC, who are sitting in 3rd place with 9 points. At the age of 19, Lauren has secured 15 caps for the U19’s women’s national football team. As well as earning her place in National team at such a young age, Lauren has also gained a bronze medal in the Women’s Amateur International Boxing Association World Championships.
Looking forward to the fixture against England, Matikainen said; “It is a good opportunity to see where we are and it’s a good challenge for our team”.
Discussing Price specifically, he added, “Lauren is one of our promising young international talent and she has a good athletic presence”.
The finals of the tournament will be held in Canada in 2015, with the top team from every group automatically qualifying and the runner ups going in to a play off. Jarmo says that if Wales were to qualify “it would be a massive boost for all of Wales”.
