Victories for TNS, Nomads and Seasiders

Rhyl 0 The New Saints (Y Seintiau Newydd) 2

The New Saints reclaimed top spot for the time being as their deserved victory at the Corbett Sports Stadium took them above Airbus UK on goal difference.
It only took the Champions 3 minutes to beat debutant Niki-Lee Bulmer in Rhyl’s goal as Sam Finley’s cross was netted by Greg Draper. Finley himself doubled the advantage after 35 minutes and the Oswestry outfit will now be hoping that Aberystwyth can do them a favour on Sunday by beating Airbus at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium.

Camodd Y Seintiau’n ‘ôl i frig Uwch Gynghrair Cymru Corbett Sports – ar wahaniaeth goliau – yn dilyn eu llwyddiant yn Y Rhyl brynhawn Sadwrn. ‘Roeddent wedi curo Niki-Lee Bulmer yn ei gêm gyntaf rhwng y pyst i’r tîm cartref wedi 3 munud yn unig wrth i Greg Draper benio croesiad Sam Finley i’r rhwyd.
10 munud cyn troi sgoriodd Finlay ei hun gan sicrhau bod y Pencampwyr yn llamu uwchben Airbus ar frig y tabl. Bydd Y Seintiau yn gobeithio y gall Aberystwyth wneud ffafr gyda nhw ar y Maes Awyr ym Mrychdyn brynhawn Sul.

Newtown (Y Drenewydd) 2 Gap Connah’s Quay (Gap Cei Connah) 3

The Nomads climbed to third in the table following a performance full of character at Paveways Latham Park.
Newtown took a 17th minute lead as Sean Evans lobbed Terry McCormick but 18 minutes later O’Toole reacted quickly to Mike Hayes’ shot and brought his side level.
Tom Goodwin restored Newtown’s advantage after 61 minutes but 60 seconds later Gap were gifted a penalty which O’Toole converted for his seventh goal in four games. He currently tops the WPL goal-scoring chart.
Sean Evans was sent for an early shower with 22 minutes left of play for deliberate handball and 4 minutes later Paul Mooney scored a cracking individual effort which bagged the 3 points for the Nomads.

Enillodd Gap wedi iddyn nhw fod ar ei hôl hi ddwywaith yn Y Drenewydd brynhawn Sadwrn. Rhoddodd Sean Evans y clwb cartref ar y blaen wedi 17 munud ond ddeng munud cyn troi – sgoriodd Gary O’Toole y gyntaf o’i ddwy gôl ef o’r prynhawn. Mae ef bellach wedi sgorio 7 mewn 4 gêm ac ef yw prif sgoriwr y Cynghrair ar hyn o bryd.
Wedi awr o chwarae tro Tom Goodwin oedd hi i rwydo dros Y Drenewydd – ond funud wedi hynny dyfarnwyd cic o’r smotyn i’r ymwelwyr a rhwydodd O’Toole ei 7fed gôl mewn pedair gêm dros dîm Mark McGregor.
‘Roedd Sean Evans wedi gweld y cerdyn coch am lawio'n fwriadol erbyn i Paul Mooney sgorio gôl unigol gofiadwy gyda 18 munud yn weddill ac o ganlyniad i’r fuddugoliaeth gofiadwy hon, cododd Gap i’r trydydd safle yn y tabl.

Carmarthen Town (Caerfyrddin) 4 Bangor 4

What a game !
For the second week running Carmarthen claimed an injury time point as Luke Cummings scored his first ever WPL goal deep into injury time.
It only took 4 minutes for the game’s opening talking point to take place as last man Chris Thomas was given his marching orders for a foul on Chris Jones. 5 minutes later Jamie Petrie scored his second ever Bangor goal and Les Davies seemed to have settled thing as early as the 11th minute as he netted his 90th career WPL goal.
The Old Gold showed great character as Jordan Follows finished well 3 minutes later and Christian Doidge made thing level on the half hour mark as he claimed his 5th goal of the campaign following some sloppy Bangor defending.
The Citizens restored their lead in the final minute of the first half as Steve Cann failed to deal with a cross under pressure from ‘Big Les’.
Not surprisingly the second half started off as a less eventful affair –but the afternoon proved to be a memorable affair for Bangor substitute Jamie McDaid as he calmly netted his first ever WPL goal for Bangor with 14 minutes left of play.
Corey Thomas’ lovely free kick with only 4 minutes left gave Carmarthen some hope before Cummings bravely secured a dramatic and unlikely point for Mark Aizlewood’s men.

Am yr eildro o fewn wythnos hawliodd clwb Caerfyrddin bwynt hwyr ar eu tomen eu hunain wrth i Luke Cummings sgorio ei gôl gynghrair gyntaf erioed.
Daeth pwnc trafod cynta’r gêm wedi 4 munud yn unig wrth i Chris Thomas gael ei ddanfon o’r maes am lorio Chris Jones wrth iddo redeg tua’r gôl. 5 munud wedi hynny rhwydodd Jamie Petrie dros yr ymwelwyr cyn i Les Davies ddyblu mantais y Dinasyddion wedi dim ond 11 munud o chwarae – gôl gynghrair rhif 90 i’r ‘Tryc’.
Dangosodd yr Hen Aur gryn gymeriad wrth i ymdrech hyfryd Jordan Follows (14) ac ergyd llai cofiadwy Christian Doidge (30) ddod ’r deg dyn yn gyfartal. Serch hynny – yn eiliadau ola’r cyfnod cyntaf – aeth Bangor yn ôl ar y blaen wrth i Steve Cann wywo ym mhresenoldeb Les Davies.
Doedd hi’n ddim syndod na ddechreuodd yr ail hanner mor gyffrous ’r cyfnod cyntaf – ond bydd Jamie McDaid yn cofio’r prynhawn am amser maith . Gydag 14 munud o’r ornest ar ôl, cadwodd yr eilydd ei ben i rwydo ei gôl gynghrair gyntaf erioed dros Fangor .
Rhoddodd cic rydd hyfryd Corey Thomas gyda 4 munud yn weddill rywfaint o obaith i’r cefnogwyr cartref ac fe drodd y gobaith yn orfoledd wrth i Cummings godi’n uchel i benio i’r rhwyd yn ddwfn yn yr amser a ganiateir am anafiadau.

Afan Lido (Lido Afan) 0 Prestatyn 1

A 21st minute penalty from Lee Hunt was enough to secure Prestatyn's first victory in six Corbett Sports WPL matches. The local crowd felt that Joshua Doyle's clumsy challenge was outside the box but referee Bryn Markham-Jones confidently pointed to the spot and Hunt calmly slotted home his sixth goal of the season.

The Seasiders played the majority of the game with ten men as Mike Parker was shown the red card for a dangerous tackle on Gareth Phillips after 38 minutes.

Afan Lido hit the woodwork twice in the second period and will feel disappointed that they didn't secure a point from the match . The remain the only side in the WPL without a win this season.

Sicrhaodd Prestatyn eu buddugoliaeth gyntaf mewnchwe gêm diolch i gic Lee Hunt o’r smotyn wedi 21 munud yn Stadiwm Marston’s.’Roedd rhai o’r selogion cartref yn credu bod gwthiad Joshua Doyle y tu allan i’r cwrt cosbi – ond ‘roedd Bryn Markham-Jones yn hyderus bod y drosedd wedi digwydd y fewn y blwch. Rhwydodd Hunt ei chweched gôl o’r tymor yn hyderus.
Dangosodd y dyfarnwr gerdyn coch i Mike Parker 17 munud yn ddiweddarach am dacl beryglus ar Gareth Phillips ac er gwaethaf pwysau cyson Lido’n yr ail gyfnod – hawliwyd y fuddugoliaeth hirddisgwyliedig gan dîm Lee Jones.
