The New Saints inflicted the first defeat of the season on Gap Connah’s Quay on Friday night in emphatic style.
The Champions took the lead after 19 minutes as Chris Jones found the bottom right hand corner of Terry McCormick’s goal but three goals in the final six minutes of the opening period settled matters before the break. Michael Wilde netted twice in three minutes before Jones made it 4-0 seconds before the half time whistle.
The Nomads had only conceded a total of two goals in their first four matches of the season and they rediscovered their defensive qualities in the second period. TNS won’t be overly worried about their failure to add to their goal tally on the evening as the three points were well and truly won in the first half.

Chwalwyd record ‘heb golli’ Cei Connah’r tymor yma gan Y Seintiau Newydd yn Stadiwm Glannau Dyfrdwy nos Wener.
Rhwydodd Chris Jones a Michael Wilde ddwy gôl yr un yn y cyfnod cyntaf – gyda thair ohonynt yn cael eu sgorio yn chwe munud ola’r hanner.
Dim ond dwy gôl yr oedd Gap wedi eu hildio yn eu pedair gornest gyntaf o’r tymor cyn ymweliad Y Seintiau. Er na sgoriodd yr ymwelwyr wedi troi – bydd y Pencampwyr yn ddigon bodlon gan bod eu perfformiad hanner cyntaf wedi hen sicrhau’r triphwynt ar y noson.

Aberystwyth 1 Prestatyn 0
Having scored a hat-trick in the corresponding fixture last season – Mark Jones again was the difference between both sides on Friday. His deflected 79th minute effort was enough to bag the three points for Aber and also took them to third position in the table overnight.
Although Aber had the majority of the possession during the first half – Cledan Davies’ clearance off the line was the closest either team came to scoring in the first 45 minutes.
Andy Parkinson did put the ball into Mike Lewis’ net just after the hour mark but the effort was ruled out for offside.
Both sides had further chances – but Mark Jones – again – was the major player in this result.

Sgoriodd Mark Jones deirgwaith yn y gêm gyfatebol y tymor diwethaf ac ymdrech blaenwr Aberystwyth wedi 79 munud oedd y gwahaniaeth rhwng y tîmau unwaith eto. Er i’w ergyd wyro heibio Dave Roberts, ‘roedd hi’n ddigon i hawlio’r fuddugoliaeth i fechgyn Ian Hughes.
Fe gafodd yr ymwelwyr eu cyfleoedd ar y noson - cliriodd Cledan Davies un ymdrech oddi ar y llinell yn yr hanner cyntaf ac yna wedi troi – er bod Andy Parkinson wedi rhwydo -dyfarnwyd ei fod yn camsefyll.
Yr ail golled o fewn wythnos i Brestatyn ond Aber yn codi i’r trydydd safle dros nos.
