Airbus Fly to Top of League & Other Results

Airbus continued their perfect start to the season as they registered their fourth straight victory and climbed to the top of the League. Steve Jones’ 22nd minute effort put them on the road to victory and Michael Roddy doubled the advantage 5 minutes after the restart. Further goals followed from Jones (53),Chris Budrys (63) Tom Field (75) and Glenn Rule (89). Luke Boundford's 75th minute goal was of little consolation to the Robins.

Having knocked Prestatyn out of the Word Cup on Tuesday, Gap brought the Seasiders’ perfect start to the season to an end at Bastion Gardens. 19 year old Ryan Edwards’ brace was the major difference between the sides. He took full advantage of Dave Roberts’ mistake after 17 minutes of play to open the scoring but Andy Parkinson’s 3rd goal of the campaign after 33 minutes levelled things for the home side. Things remained level for only 2 minutes as Edwards, who is a product of the Nomads’ academy, bravely notched the all-important goal. Prestatyn drop to third position in the table and Gap remain one of only two undefeated teams in the Corbett Sports WPL.

Port Talbot secured their first victory of the season and brought Aber’s unbeaten run to an end in the process. Rhys Griffiths netted his first goal since his return to the Corbett Sports WPL after 35 minutes and he also powerfully headed his second 5 minutes after the break. Daniel Sheehan wrapped things up with 3 minutes left.

Bala 1 TNS (Y Seintiau Newydd) 3
Bala’s fourth defeat in as many games and TNS’ second victory of the season was witnessed at Maes Tegid on Saturday. A rare Phil Baker goal after 18 minutes put the Champions in the driving seat before Conall Murtagh’s own goal doubled the Saints’ lead. Mark Connolly made it 2-1 but Michael Wilde secured the points in the 83rd minute.

The points were decided at Richmond Park by Cortez Belle’s powerful forehead as he scored his first goal for the Old Gold after 68 minutes. Alex Ramsay pulled off a string of impressive saves to foil Carmarthen’s territorial dominance up until Belle’s intervention – but Steve Cann was also called to action on numerous occasions .

The Citizens took the lead in the 63rd minute through Anthony Miley but the game’s major talking point occurred with 7 minutes remaining as Rameer Outlaw was sent off for handball in the box which was disputed by the Lido faithful. Les Davies netted confidently from the spot. Deep into injury time Robert Jones secured Bangor’s second League victory of the season.
