Lauren Hancock believes that Cardiff City FC have a ‘very good chance’ of retaining their Welsh Premier Women’s League title this season which begins on Sunday 8th of September.
19 year old Hancock has had a busy summer representing her club in the Champion’s League in Bosnia before playing all three matches for the Wales team in the UEFA Women’s U19 Championship held here last month.
Hancock told the WPWL Website:
‘Being part of the tournament with the best teams in Europe was a great experience and I feel that our League can only benefit from what the players have learnt during the past month or so. We have seen the standards of the other countries and we need to do all that we can to emulate them.’
Lauren Hancock will not be taking part in Cardiff City’s first match of their title defence at Newcastle Emlyn on Sunday (2pm) as she has been called up to the Wales senior squad who will be travelling to Estonia. She will of course be hoping that her club gets off to a good start to the season at Cae Emlyn.
‘Cardiff Met were the only ones who beat us during the last campaign and I’m sure that they will be breathing down our necks again. I’m sure that we’ll see an improvement in a number of clubs this year and I really think that it’s going to be a good season for the League’.

Mae Uwch Gynghrair Merched Cymru yn dychwelyd ddydd Sul yr 8fed o Fedi a bydd y Pencampwyr Caerdydd yn teithio i Gastell Newydd Emlyn (2pm). Ni fydd Lauren Hancock yn chwarae ar Gae Emlyn gan ei bod wedi ei galw i garfan lawn Cymru ar gyfer eu taith i Estonia. Serch hynny, dywedodd wrth wefan UGMC:
‘Mae gennym gyfle da o gadw’n gafael ar ein coron y tymor yma. Bydd Met Caerdydd yn hynod gystadleuol eto ond dwi’n credu y bydd nifer o’r clybiau eraill wedi cryfhau hefyd – felly mae’n argoeli I fod yn dymor difyr iawn eto’.
