Lido secure services of expeirenced Defender

Afan Lido have been the busiest club in the close season as new boss Paul Evans has built an almost brand new squad, but the latest acquisition could prove to be the most significant.

Evans has added former Port Talbot Town captain and centre-back Matthew Rees to a burgeoning defence. The experienced Rees has left Carmarthen Town to join the Old Gold and will add experience, quality and leadership skills to the Lido squad.

Rees, formerly of Millwall, has signed in time for Saturday's opening fixture away to Connahs Quay. Rees was once named in the full Wales squad for an International in the USA, but was an unused substitute for the match and nexer won a full cap.

Matthew is a former professional who will bring a lot of experience to the side. We look forward to seeing him perform for Lido

Also available for the trip to Deeside is former Neath winger Garyn Preen, returning to football after a season long lay-off due to injury.

Boss Evans commented; "Matthew is a former professional who will bring a lot of experience to the side. We look forward to seeing him perform for Lido.

"He's been popular at every club he's played for, and I'm sure that he'll earn the same reputation here as well.

"We're also delighted that Garyn Preen has signed. He's been looking sharp in training, and he did very well during his time at Neath so it's a good addition to our squad."
