SCOTT Young has added two more players to his squad ahead of Saturday’s visit to Southern Premier outfit Biggleswade Town (3pm), with Kerry Nicholas and Josh Bell both signing for the club.

Goalkeeper Kerry Nicholas joins having played for Carmarthen Town last season, whilst former Barry Town forward Josh Bell arrives from Bridgend Town.

Both players have featured regularly for the club in pre-season and signed after Wednesday’s match against Cardiff City, along with Adam Wright and Sacha Walters, who’ve also re-signed.

With the Steelmen well into their pre-season campaign, Young says he is now close to finalising his squad for the forthcoming season, which starts on the 24th August with a visit to The New Saints, with perhaps room for one final addition.

“Sacha [Walters], Adam Wright, Josh Bell and Kerry Nicholas have all signed. I think I’d like to sign one more – if we can squeeze it out of the Chairman, but we’re nearly there,” he said.

Young, meanwhile, will take a full squad on Saturday to Bedfordshire for Port Talbot’s visit to Biggleswade Town.

The Waders achieved promotion to the Southern League last season via play-offs and Young will use the match to throw down the gauntlet to his players, as competition for places begins.

“They’ve got a good little set-up and it’ll be competitive with that Wales - England feel, so it should be interesting.”

“It’s going to be a good test for us, it’s got that unknown feel about it. A lot of pre-season friendlies you play, you know what you’re up against and know what you’re getting but this is a bit of the unknown.”

“We’ve turned the fitness corner now. It is about fitness on the pitch, in terms of playing game minutes, but we’re starting to look now at the finer details as we ramp up towards the start of the season.”
