The New Saints Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Bernard Hirmer.

Hirmer, 45, has joined the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League Champions as a first team goalkeeper coach.

‘Bernie’ is a former Bayern Munich goalkeeper and was advised to join the Oswestry based club by his good friend, Dietmar Hamann. The Liverpool legend knows all about The Saints after he worked with TNS coach Carl Darlington and he told his German compatriot to join Craig Harrison’s side, "I spoke to Didi about the move and he said yes I should join."

Hirmer also spent time with Saints winger Ryan Fraughan, during his time at Stockport County and was eager to mention the quality of both TNS goalkeepers;

"I am very happy with the quality that Paul (Harrison) and (Chris) Mullock have. I am really looking forward to working closely with them throughout the year."

I have signed because I want to work with a good coaching team who want to play modern football

"I have signed because I want to work with a good coaching team who want to play modern football" Hirmer added on Twitter.

Hirmer was at Wrexham to see the Saints face Legia Warsaw in the Champions League recently and he also travelled to the Pepsi Arena for the return leg in the Polish capital.
