Ryan Green in action for the Steelmen
Port Talbot Town defender Ryan Green is hoping to that the club can build on last season’s progress, after putting pen to paper on a new contract with the club.
The former Wales international arrived last summer from then League Two outfit Hereford United before going on to make 26 (+1) Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League appearances in his debut season at the GenQuip stadium.
Despite suffering a heartbreaking play-off defeat to Bala Town at the end of season, the Town defender revealed it didn’t take him long to commit to a second season at the club.
“I think we had a good season and I get on really well with all the lads. Obviously, the Bala defeat was a massive blow, with the goal arriving in the last few minutes, and it took a few weeks to get over but I think we can build on our success and again top-six will be our target,” he said.
Green, 32, has played throughout the Football League before moving to the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League, where he has been impressed with the standard of football.
It’s been harder than I thought. There are a lot of players here who could play in the Football League
“It’s been harder than I thought. There are a lot of players here who could play in the Football League and there are six or seven very strong sides in the league,” Green explained.
“Working with Scott Young is great; I know him from Cardiff and he’s experienced and knows his stuff.”
“I’m looking forward to next season, hopefully we’ll be able to make a few signings and push on again,” he added.
