Cardiff City Close in on WPWL Title

CAERNARFON TOWN 0 CARDIFF CITY FC 16

League leaders Cardiff City took a huge step towards the title as they swept the ‘Cofis’ aside at the Oval on Sunday afternoon. This big victory gives City a healthy advantage over closest rivals Cardiff Met regarding goal difference which could decide the title race next Sunday.
Three different Cardiff players claimed four goals – Danielle Broadhurst (11,37,60,83), Rachel Rowe (32,74,76,89), Amy Wathan (16,26,36,61) and Catherine Walsh also bagged a hat-trick (20,80,82) Mali Summers also found the Caernarfon net 2 minutes after the break.

ABERYSTWYTH TOWN 2 CARDIFF MET 4

Met gained 3 points but lost ground on Cardiff City following this victory combative victory which saw both sides reduced to ten players before the final whistle. Aber gifted an own goal to title chasing Met after only 3 minutes of play and 8 minites later Emily Brown dobled their advantage.Steff Turner further confirmed Met's superiority as she gave the visitors a 3 goal advantage just before the hour mark.
Gemma Kay responded immediately for Aber which set up a frantic finale.
Steff Turner's afternoon turned sour with 4 minutes remaining as she was sent for an early bath for her second bookable offence and the home side clawed another goal back a minute later through Sam Gaunt. However Aber keeper Keryn Hawkins was also red carded in the final minute before Hannah Billingham secured the victory for Met in the dying seconds.
Met now have two games left - they host Port Talbot on Friday evening and Llandudno Junction on Sunday afternoon.

LLANIDLOES 0 WREXHAM 1

An Alys Hinchcliffe free kick 15 minutes from time secured the victory for the visitors on Sunday afternoon.
Steph Hughson was a threat to Wrexham during the game but home keeper Moden Paenthaisong also thwarted Chloe Foster on more than one occasion before Hichcliffe placed the ball in the bottom corner of the Llanidloes net to claim the three points for Dave Taylor’s team.

Sgoriodd Gemma Kay (59) a Sam Gaunt (87) i’r tîm cartref a dangoswyd cardiau coch i Steff Turner (Met 86) a Keryn Hawkins (Golwr Aber 90) mewn gornest galed a chystadleuol iawn.
