The build up to the 126th FAW Welsh Cup Final started last Friday, 26th April in Prestatyn as local pupils from Prestatyn High School joined Prestatyn Town skipper Dave Hayes in an art project, arranged by the Football Association of Wales.

Sixteen pupils took part in a workshop and combined their own artistic skills with a celebration of Prestatyn Town FC’s success in reaching their first ever Welsh Cup Final. The day was organised by Jon Phillips of Pippins Design, official artists to the Football Association of Wales. Pupils worked with Jon to paint portraits of some of Prestatyn’s players.

In the afternoon the school enjoyed a visit from Prestatyn Town Club Captain Hayes and General Manager Gareth Owens. They chatted with the students and admired their work. The paintings will be exhibited at the Welsh Cup Final which takes place on Monday 6th May at the Racecourse Ground, Wrexham (3:00pm Kick-Off). After the Final, they will be displayed at the football club.

Jon from Pippins Design will be in Bangor this Friday to conduct a similar project with a school in close proximity to the BookPeople Stadium in Bangor, where local pupils will also enjoy their build up to Monday's big Final.

The Prestatyn pupils who took part in the project were;

Year 10
Lydia Hughes, Megan Duffey, Elin Williams, Samantha Williams, Ben Worthing, Ailish Edwards, Sophia Jerbi

Year 9
