Robins Eye on Europe

Newtown Hope to Finish Eighth

Newtown secured their Welsh Premier League status last weekend at GAP Connah's Quay. But now Bernie McNally wants his players to go out and finish their season on a high and attempt to claim a play-off place at Gap's expense. The Robins are currently 3 points behind thre Deeside outfit. In order to secure their place in the play-offs - Newtown need Bala to beat the Nomads at Maes Tegid while McNally's men need to beat Afan Lido and overturn Gap's present 3 goal superior goal difference.

"It's great to have the pressure off, which is an added bonus for this week. But we want to finish the season on a high and grab a few more goals on Saturday."

The former Northern Ireland international added, "The players are upbeat and in good spirits as they always are, but we want to but on a good show in front of the home fans and show them what a good side we are."

Despite Newtown being safe, and Afan Lido being relegated, McNally stressed that the South Walians will not lie down easily. "They will be up for it on Saturday. They will want to put something in and make it difficult for us."
