Eifion Inducted into Hall of Fame

Eifion yn dod yn un o'r Anfarwolion

Eifion Williams, one of the league’s most fearsome strikers, is the next member of the Welsh Premier League Hall of Fame.

He started his career in the league with Caernarfon, where he scored 64 goals in 75 games for the Canaries in two memorable seasons.

After coming within a point of firing Caernarfon to a European place in 1997, he moved to Barry Town and set a record that stills stands for the largest fee for a player between two clubs in the league.

Barry won the league Championship in 1998 without losing a game, as Eifion scored 40 goals to win the Golden Boot.

The following season, he won another Golden Boot and another Championship, giving him a total of 68 goals in 60 games for Barry.

He went on to play for Torquay, Hartlepool and Wrexham in the Football League and despite the scorers that have followed, no-one can match Eifion Williams’ scoring ratio in the Welsh Premier League – a goal a game for a hundred and thirty matches.

Ar ôl dod o fewn pwynt i danio Caernarfon i le yn Ewrop yn 1997, fe symudodd i’r Barri gan greu record sy’n dal i sefyll am y ffi mwyaf am chwaraewr rhwng dau glwb o’r Cynghrair.

Enillwyd y Bencampwriaeth yn 1998 heb golli gêm wrth i Eifion gipio’r Esgid Aur a sgorio 40 o goliau.

Y tymor canlynol, enillodd Esgid Aur a Phencampwriaeth arall, gan roi cyfanswm o 68 o goliau mewn 60 o gemau i’r Barri.

Chwaraeodd wedyn i Torquay, Hartlepool a Wrecsam yng nghynghrair Lloegr ac er y sgorwyr sydd wedi dod ar ei ôl, does gan neb gystal gyfartaledd sgorio ag Eifion Williams yn Uwch Gynghrair Cymru – gôl bob gêm am gant tri deg o gemau.
