Saints beat Football League clubs to sign Mullan

The New Saints have completed the signing of Jamie Mullan, who have won the race for his signature despite interest from at least two football league clubs.

Mullan, who plays as a right-sided winger has joined the Welsh Champions from Conference North side, Stalybridge.

The 24 year old former Manchester United junior, has expressed his delight at joining the Oswestry based club.

The Nottingham-born Mullan, spent four years with Manchester United's academy after joining from Notts County as a 14-year-old.

The club is delighted to have captured a player of Jamie’s calibre and will further enhance the squad in our quest to re-capture the Welsh Premier title


After leaving Old Trafford he moved on to Rochdale for a short spell before switching to Northwich Victoria in January 2008, where he won the young player of the year award after helping them stave off relegation. In May 2009 he joined Fleetwood Town where he was a member of the 2009/2010 promotion winning squad and made over 30 appearances for the Cods in the 2010/11campaign.

Mullan, then joined Alfreton Town before his spell at Stalybridge.

The club have also announced that young winger, Jason Lampkin has been released by mutual consent and has joined Colywn Bay.
