Mike Wilde beats Sion James to a header
The New Saints cruised to a comfortable 3-0 victory against Aberystwyth Town at Park Hall stadium, thanks to a brace from Alex Darlington and a Kai Edwards header.
The Saints took the lead after only five minutes when Darlington coolly converted from close range, after a great run and cross from Simon Spender.
Moments later Steve Evans went down with what appeared to be an ankle injury. The former Wales international was unable to continue and was replaced by the former Neath man, Kai Edwards.
With the home side in complete control, Darlington added another. Chris Seargeant whipped in a terrific free kick which wasn’t cleared and the young Darlington reacted quickest to give the Oswestry based side a two goal advantage at the break.
The second half started in a similar fashion to the first, with the Saints dominating the possession and on the hour mark substitute Edwards rose highest to head home after Chris Jones delivered a dangerous corner.
Craig Harrison and his side coasted to the victory once the third goal went in and the result keeps the Welsh Champions top of the table.
