Port Talbot Town Football Club have terminated the contract of manager Mark Jones with immediate effect.

The Board of Directors wish to take the club in a new direction.

Club Chairman Andrew Edwards said:

"The club would like to put on record their thanks to Mark for
all his efforts over the past three years".

Mark Jones has told the Official Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League Site that he was "Surprised at the decision, considering that Port Talbot are the top team in the League in South Wales".

He emphasised that he had "loved every minute at the club" and that he hoped for an early opportunity to return to the League that he "loves to bits" in the near future.

Scott Young will assume the managerial duties for the game against Prestatyn Towm at the Genquip Stadium on Saturday and is a contender for the full time post accrding to the Chairman:

"Scott is currently doing his A license and is certainly in the mix. I've had a number of phone calls today from people expressing their interest in the job.
We will choose who we believe is the best man to move Port Talbot Town Football club forward in the future".
