Newtown stalwart John Annereau has passed away

It was with sadness that the Welsh Premier League was informed on Thursday that Newtown's long-serving match day secretary, John Annereau passed away on Wednesday 31st October.

He was not feeling well on Saturday and pulled out of his match day role at the last minute, but other than that was not thought to be seriously ill. His daughter Lesley visited him and found him to be unwell but, he died in hospital.

Despite his illness, John was thinking of his Club responsibilities all the time and was speaking to the Club Secretary Owen Durbridge about registered players late on Tuesday evening.

A well known figure in footballing circles, and widely respected amongst the players, officials and Referees in the Welsh Premier League, John's passing will leave a big hole at the club and he will be badly missed.

The sympathy of all Club Officials and members goes to John's family at this difficult time and the Welsh Premier League and Football Association of Wales also extends its sympathies to all.
