HISTORY
Llanidloes Town Football Club dates back to 1875 and was once a major force, not only in Mid Wales football but also throughout Non League Football in Wales, winning the Welsh Amateur Cup twice, in 1922 and 1964. The club was also original members of the Konica League of Wales when it was formed in the 1992/3 season, but the club only lasted the one season and were relegated having finished in penultimate position with thirty points from their thirty-eight games. Possibly more galling for the town, is the fact that their local rival team that the club battled with at the end of the 1992/93 season was Newtown, who managed to scramble to safety outside the relegation spots, but then went on to finish second in the Welsh Premier League and play in the UEFA Cup the following season!
Today, the club plays in the Spar Mid Wales League, and has all the facilities to be playing at higher level and the club is stabilising after its recent free fall. The town boasts both a men's and ladies team and a great future could be round the corner.
The Club won the League and League Cup double of the Mid Wales Central League in 1980/81 and also won the Spar Mid Wales League in 2001/1002. This picture shows the victorious side celebrating at Carno.
