Steve Abbott's Picture

Steve Abbott

Knowsley-born Steve Abbott joined the Saints in August 2009 on loan from Wrexham. The tall target man should prove to be a hit at Park Hall as he has a keen eye for goal as well.

He started his career with Wigan Athletic and also played for Leigh RMI, Congleton Town and St Helens Town, but then decided to study for a career in teaching and scored 30 goals in 80 appearances for Team Bath, helping them gain promotion to the Conference South.

He was a member of the England Universities team that won the 2006 British University Games with a 100% record, and following this, he was awarded a two-year deal by Wrexham in the summer of 2008 but, after finding it difficult to break into the first team ranks at the Racecourse, he was loaned to The New Saints in the summer of 2009.
