Aberystwyth Town announced Alan Morgan as their new Manager on Wednesday 4th November 2009.

The announcement was revealed following second interviews the previous night, which were understood to have been held with Morgan and ex-Rhyl boss Alan Bickerstaff.

The then caretaker-boss Christian Edwards, who enjoyed a successful stint in the hot-seat, was named as Morgan's Assistant Manager.

Aberystwyth-born Alan, who turned 36 two days before his appointment and is an uncle to club captain Bari Morgan, had been instrumental in a successful period with Bangor City as Assistant Manager to Neville Powell, helping them to consecutive Welsh Cup Final triumphs.

After spending ten years as a professional at Tranmere Rovers and another year at Doncaster Rovers, Alan went on to play for Connah's Quay Nomads, Rhyl, and Porthmadog in the Welsh Premier League, and had a brief spell as Player Manager at NEWI Cefn Druids.

Alan is currently also Head of Tranmere Rovers' Academy, and expects to complete his UEFA 'A' Licence badge in November 2009. If successful he will then enrol on the UEFA Pro Licence Course in 2010.

Alan and Christian have known each other for a number of years, having played with each other for the Wales Under 21 side and spent time together at Tranmere Rovers a few years later.

Club Managing Director Tony Bates said at the time; "We are delighted with Alan's appointment. This arrangement will bring in Alan's extensive coaching experience whilst at the same time allowing us to build on the excellent work that Christian has been doing as Caretaker Manager."

Alan was introduced to the Club's Supporters on the Friday evening, when the Black and Greens took on Bala Town in the Welsh Premier League.
