Deryn Brace

Deryn Brace replaced former Old Gold boss, Mark Jones in May 2007 in a surprise move by the club. Ironically, he was signed by his predecessor on 15th November 2006, aged 31, after leaving Haverfordwest County for whom he played for 5 seasons, 4 of which were spent as Player/Manager, starting in the summer of 2002. He was announced as the Player/Manager for the Old Gold on 23rd May 2007, a day after the surprise sacking of Jones, who had won the Welsh Cup just sixteen days earlier.

Deryn's playing career started at Norwich City from school and he was with them for three years before moving to Wrexham, where in six years he played more than 100 league games, including matches in the European Cup Winners Cup and an FA Cup Quarter Final.

He won ten Under 21 caps for Wales and only missed a full cap through illness. As Manager of Haverfordwest, he won the Loosemores Manager of the Month on three occasions and also took his side into the UEFA Cup, following a record highest finish in 3rd during 2003/04 season. The full time Postman stepped down as Manager of Haverfordwest citing extra work commitments and after taking a month away from the game he signed for the Old Gold for his second spell at the club.

He had previously played at Richmond Park in 2000/01, making 10 full appearances and he also played twice for Llanelli in that season, before moving to the New Bridge Meadow, which is closer to his home town of Tenby. After 160 appearances for County, including 10 in the 2006/07 season, he made a new start at Carmarthen Town.

His first game in charge for Town was the UEFA Cup Qualifying Match against SK Brann - A Baptism of Fire which the Old Gold lost comfortably. He guided his side to sixth position in his first Season in charge at Richmond Park.
